Is “the Real You” a person you are still looking for? If you answer this question with brutal honesty, it might take you awhile to come up with a complete answer. We are all created to know others and to be understood. We seek heroes to look up to and emulate. And certainly, we imitate others as we try to answer the “Who am I?” question. But at the end of the day, can the day actually be saved unless the heroes know who they really are? Will the hero in you – The Real You – be available to answer the call for help when it comes?
We Need a New Breed of Hero Who’s Ready to Show Up
Last week, we brought up 3 things that today’s heroes must do if they want to right the wrongs in the lives of those they love. But there’s one more thing heroes do that may be the most important of all: HEROES SHOW UP! They don’t wait for someone else to come along and do what needs to be done. Heroes don’t spend a lot of energy searching for a rescuer. Heroes ask themselves questions like:
- “What can I do to change this?”
- “What’s inside me that can play a part in solving this?
- “Who am I going to be in this situation?
The new breed of hero we all need is a person who knows themselves well (the Real them). They understand how to operate the drives and inner strengths they possess so that they are part of the solution, rather than part of the problem.
Heroes Know Who They Really Are and They Practice Their Powers
Can you expect to rise to a challenge or be the hero in an important situation if, when the time comes, you haven’t prepared for the assignment? I don’t think so. If you haven’t practiced using the innate strengths or inner powers that the Real You has to offer, how can you expect to be good in a moment of crisis or pressure? Even Wonder Woman had to practice using that lasso.
Are you emotional and sensitive? Did you know this aspect of you is meant for the good of the world? It doesn’t have to be the kryptonite that it often ends up being.
Do you like to make order out of disorder? Who doesn’t need you!
Are you tactical and spontaneous? When these strengths are used the right way, stand back and watch things happen that are just what is needed in the moment.
Maybe you are highly analytical and fiercely determined. When tensions rise and crises erupt, you might be the one everyone looks to for the next move.
When the Real You Shows Up . . .
We like hearing that we can be anything we want to be. We like hearing that we can do everything we set our minds to. But being ANYTHING and doing EVERYTHING might not be all that rewarding.
What if you set out this year to understand and know the Real You better? This Real You person has amazing gifts designed to solve important problems and accomplish things no one else can accomplish. There’s FAR more to you than meets the eye! And it’s the correct use of your inner strengths that brings out the new breed of hero we all need.
