The Truth Keeps You Free

Truth Keeps You Free

Over the last few weeks, the team at InnerKinetics has been making a solid case for straight thinking. As opposed to crooked thinking (which leads to deception) straight thinking helps you uncover truth. Transformational habits, emotional control, and real-world, real-time solutions are just a few of the valuable outcomes from discovering truth in all its forms. But perhaps the most valuable outcome truth provides is your sustained freedom. Let’s talk more about how truth keeps you free.

Truth Informs Your Decisions

In a recent post, we stated that certain truths need to become even more self-evident for us than they currently are. The reason for this is that the more evident the truth becomes, the higher your standards become for making truth-based decisions in all manners. What’s true versus not true can inform your decisions and give you the confidence that you’ve made the best choice you can make in any given circumstance. Now, I don’t know about you, but having that confidence during crazy times like we are in now can bring real peace of mind.

It’s not that you’re incapable of getting it wrong, or that your search for truth won’t be challenged with false facts from time to time. We remain imperfect as does everyone else around us. But it does mean that you’ve set your focus on the truth.  And as we’ve said repeatedly in this blog, whatever you focus on gets magnified. So, if you’re focused on discovering truth, you’re going to find it more often. And even if more information comes to you, such that you must adjust your beliefs and actions, you’re still allowing your search for truth to set your standards and inform your decisions. It’s a WIN-WIN.

Truth Sets You Free. And Truth Keeps You Free.

You know what they say: The Truth will set you free!

But perhaps you’ve also read it straight from the source of that saying:

  • “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” ~John 8:32
  • Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.” ~ Proverbs 3:3-4

What’s even better than being set free? I argue that KEEPING your freedom is more important.

We’re all capable of escaping the bonds that outright lies or even half-truths create. But throughout our daily life, keeping free from those bonds must be paramount. The bondage of unhealthy relationships, poorly defined boundaries, and false beliefs are all outcomes informed by falsehoods and untruths. On the other hand, healthy relationships, well-defined boundaries, and positive beliefs keep us free. We’re kept free to make choices that produce a sense of fulfillment and that align with our God-given inner drives. We’re kept free to achieve our full potential, rather than painting ourselves into a corner. Even our literal freedoms mentioned in the U.S. Constitution are only kept when men like the Founding Fathers and the patriots of today choose to seek and find the truth. Tyranny in all forms is abolished with truth.

You won’t be sorry.

In a nutshell, let straight thinking help you set a path for discovering the truth in all matters. Let truth be your focus and the standard that informs your choices. And let the payback of peace of mind be your motivation to pursue this daily. You won’t be sorry. You’ll be free.
